Earth Rangers Presentation  We were so excited to begin our week with a presentation from Earth Rangers.  This is a not for profit group that involves young people in conservation and environmental stewardship.  Students had a chance to see some animals, learn about how they survive and thrive, and learn about what kinds of things are impacting their habitats.  We really enjoyed meeting Finn the Red Fox and Shelley the Turtle.   Library Day - Mondays Every Monday, we will visit our school library to sign out a book.  Students are encouraged to return their book every week but are welcome to keep their book for up to two weeks before it is considered overdue. When you are done with the book, simply return it to the classroom and we will send it down to the library. Students who have returned their book prior to our Monday library time, will be able to sign out a new book. Please take good care of the book while it is in your care. Keep it in a safe spot at home, out of reach of young siblings. Water bottles and library books do not mix! Please carry water bottles on the outside of your backpack while transporting library books. Terry Fox Run We will be participating in the Terry Fox Run in our school field on September 22.   Welcome to Room 170 Grade One/Two Classroom Blog! I hope you will visit often to see some of the exciting learning we are doing in room 170. We are looking forward to a great year of learning! We have had an amazing and busy start to our school year! We have spent the first few days getting to know each other and becoming familiarized with the school and classroom routines. We are working together to create a sense of belonging in a safe and supportive learning community where everyone feels included. To get us started, we read the story, The Invisible Boy by Trudy Ludwig and discussed ideas for ensuring everyone in our class feels included and visible. Then we worked together on creating and painting our own life sized portraits of ourselves that reflect our individual uniqueness.
